Unique very good ! Used to use Tom Ford ; this is my new favourite !

I have had a lot of compliments, holding its own with other fragrances three times the price.

Got a 3ml sample (paid for) of this. It is my first Naughton and Wilson scent and caved after watching Mr Smelly 1977 on Youtube talk about his latest release.
From my first impression, this is an amazingly fresh scent with some lovely minty elements. Can't comment on longevity but if it lasts as long as my work day, I will happily buy a full bottle of this.
Immediately from the first application I was impressed. A complex scent, yet it still leaves you with a warm nostalgic feeling. For me, it can’t be better described than reading a book by the fire! Sophisticated and unique, the scent lasts all day on my skin! Chypre Fulminare will not only be a go-to daily wear, but one I’ll order again and again! Thank you N&W!
Amazing fragrance. So fresh and crisp but quite complex in the drydown. Very worthy follow up to Gravitas!
Bon Viveur is a fresher follow-up to the spicier Gravitas, but still fresh and spicy in its own right, a mix of citruses and spices with a woody base. Bon Viveur immediately feels like a sort of modern homage to fresh men’s classics like Dior Eau Sauvage (the original EDT) or Chanel Pour Monsieur (the current EDT) mixed with lemon-lime soda, with a certain gin fizziness and slightly metallic tone. The main standout notes are fittingly lemon and lime (particularly at the opening) as well as pepper, clove, gin (presumably juniper), and a base of cedar, patchouli, vetiver, and oakmoss. Particularly as it dries down, the lemon/lime/gin fades a bit and gives with to the spicy clove and pepper, paired harmoniously with base notes. It certainly gets a little spicier over time, then, but still feels like it has a good balance, even after the initial effervescence has faded somewhat.
Much like with Gravitas, I love the classic-meets-modern vibe of the aforementioned men’s classics as well as a more modern gin-infused, slightly-spicy-but-still fresh vibe. Also like Gravitas, it has a versatility to it both in terms of weather and situation, but as Gravitas is slightly heavier/darker/spicier, Bon Viveur is slightly lighter/brighter/fresher, albeit with still well above average performance, even if not quite as strong as the performance of Gravtias.
Overall, I’m very impressed and am glad to have a bottle alongside Gravitas. The duo offers a bit of a day-night/winter-summer duality but both fragrances are really quite versatile and their high utility/wearability overlap considerably with one another.
Love at first sniff. This was 1 of those fragrances that when I first smelled it made me remember why I started this journey in the first place. To find the most remarkably exquisite smelling fragrances in existence and this absolutely is 1 of the extremely small few that I absolutely adore. It’s also a big compliment getter among both men and women. Out of all the fragrances I have designer wise I liken it to a Pasha de Cartier & Rochas Moustache EDP. It is a true gentleman’s fragrance a masterpiece Fougere. If you enjoy barbershop fragrances this is 1 you absolutely must have on your list. The ingredients used in this you can tell are all quality it definitely smells more natural than synthetic especially the Vanilla. Beware once you smell this you may find yourself falling madly in love with fougeres hunting for similar smelling cousins to this.
This is on point. I’m from Memphis, Tennessee so I’ll explain how I see it. This is the scent for when you’re leaving the barbershop after a fresh cut on a Saturday morning and about to hop in a Cadillac and head downtown. Straight playa scent. Old school scent with the same vibe as Bois Du Portugal with a mix of Viking Cologne with a smooth vanilla sitting at the base. If you want a classic man scent then this is it.
A bright and citrusy sweet opening leads to a cardamom heart, which could be perceived as a nod to MDCI's Invasion Barbare. However, the journey does not end there. The dry-down ushers in very pleasant citrusy-vanillic notes supported by hints of patchouli and oak moss. I don’t usually go for vanilla, but the way it is blended in Gravitas gives a refined, classic feel reminiscent of the discontinued Arpège pour Homme by Lanvin, without the slight incensy harshness. Projection and sillage here are unassuming, and longevity is average, so it does not qualify as a powerhouse. However, more mature, elegant gentlemen will appreciate this very sophisticated creation. Nice one, Dan! I personally feel it will be better suited to the cooler months, so it has become my new go-to for autumn/winter. Oh, and the bottle is beautiful!
The more I use Gravitas the more I love it!
I'll be the first to tell you that I haven't been the biggest fan of fougeres since the 80's, but that's pretty much all we had back then! Yes... I was that 13 year old wearing Drakkar Noir! lol
I've watched more than a few reviews on this, so I was actually expecting to not like it. I have to say that I jumped the gun, and I was very wrong, although it seems to develop differently on me.
When I first spray it on, I'm greeted with a heavy dose of creamy vanilla and a somewhat sharp lavender. There is also a slight citrus, and a spiciness from the combination of pepper, coriander, and cardamom.
As we head into the mid, the citrus fades, and the vanilla/lavender combo tones down. The fragrance starts to become more balanced between all of it's facets.
The base is where the most drastic change happens. I totally lose the lavender, and the vanilla turns from creamy, to extremely airy. It still stays slightly spicy, but also becomes more woody from the oakmoss, and slightly animalic from the ambergris. It's still a very pleasant fragrance all the way through!
I realize this isn't the way most people describe this, but that was my experience with it!
The fragrance projected at about an arm's length for the first couple hours. After that, it died down to a nice 2 foot bubble around me, until it faded away. I could no longer smell it on myself at around the 8 to 9 hour mark.
I know this one is classified as an aromatic fougere, but on me, it's more of an oriental fougere. It's very modern, and I've really enjoy it the 4 times I've worn it prior to this review! I really think this would be perfect for someone with a little experience under their belt, but I could see anyone over 25 wearing it!
Powerful spicy citruses hit you on initial spray but they soon become warm with an aromatic old school classic fougere feel. Lavender brings an earthy smoothness with a spicy edge, soon this tantalising parade of aromas entice your olfactory senses. Its feels masculine and attentive and at all times feels perfectly blended it just flows seamlessly.
I get this beautiful aromatic woody spicy and slightly nutty aroma that gives great depth, the opening is pure classic but then it starts to change and it becomes more modern giving it a fantastic twist. Its smooth with an earthy appeal with nudges of vanilla blending with the musky earthy patchouli, it really does pull you into to get closer.
Tastefully executed and without doubt an exceedingly interesting fragrance that's got mass appeal with this old style gentleman meets this modern vibe towards the end. Really love this one it smells fantastic on my parter.
Beautifully presented bottle with golden cap and exquisite golden label, it exudes pure class and refinement.
Top: Bergamot, Mandarin, Lavender
Middle:Coriander, Cardamom, Pepper
Base:Patchouli, Oakmoss, Ambergris, Vanilla
Surprisingly unique, classic but modern, high-quality fragrance that I am extremely pleased with. In addition to the fragrance itself, the bottle is beautiful and elegant, and I especially appreciate the pressurized atomizer. All around high quality and excellent. I can highly recommend Gravitas.
This genuinely feels like a labour of love, and I’m sure Dan has had creative direction throughout this. Unlike some other celebrity (mentioning no names) fragrance designers, I think this exactly achieves its aim: it’s gentlemanly, timeless and iconic.
The bottle continues this theme, and the price is excellent for the quality on offer.
Having watched Dan’s video reviews, I knew we shared a similar taste in timeless, classic men’s fragrances, so I was excited to get my nose on “Gravitas.” I knew it’d be good; it’s actually spectacular. While it’s a classy affair, there’s something comforting in the blend which keeps it approachable. Distinguished, but down-to-earth. It’s a nod to the past while assuredly advancing forward. Congrats to Dan and the team behind Gravitas!
